Black Owned explores the perspective of Black-owned small businesses who know too well the origins of the racial reckoning in America. These businesses are a reflection of the entrepreneurs who serve their communities, despite their systemic and economic marginalization that has lasted for generations. Produced immediately after the murder of George Floyd, Black Owned was helmed by Even/Odd director Rodney Lucas and an all-Black production crew, capturing theses stories with an authentic lens during a heightened and emotional moment in America – especially for Black Americans.
